‘I was working full-time when I launched Rizos Curls in 2017, and I thought it would be my little side hobby/passion project,’ says Julissa Prado, founder of Rizos Curls, who first wore her curls natural at school at the age of 15. Until then, she had mainly worn her hair straight or gelled up, like the people whose hair she did for proms and pageants, who typically asked her to do the same. Following her grandmother's guidance, she began making her own ‘creams’ from natural ingredients, which she used to care for her own hair and that of others, showing them how to love their hair's natural state. Then, seeing that first moment when they looked at themselves in the mirror they saw their hair as natural and really liked it - it was something so special and powerful that she became addicted to that feeling. That's how Rizos Curls got started, and today it has become a well-known global brand with numerous award-winning products. It is a cruelty-free, sustainability-focused brand that operates in accordance with European standards. It also places great emphasis on transparency, so every single product ingredient is EWG-certified, which shows how safe that ingredient is.
